What to Bring! -- Alaska 2007

Please understand a few key items for your upcoming trip with us on the M/V Burntsand:

• Remember that Northern BC, SE Alaska, the Queen Charlotte Islands and the West Coast of Vancouver Island can be quite warm or quite cold. Warm is easy to handle, but cold requires the right preparations,
• Please bring your gear in a collapsible duffle bag, please do not bring a hard suitcase or framed pack as there is limited room to store then onboard, and,
• The following suggestions are ideas of what you may require. Please modify as to your length of stay.

Clothing:

• A few pairs of pants for wet weather/exploring onshore (not denim ideally)
• Warm jacket
• Warm hat
• Windbreaker jacket and pants
• Long rubber boots (we have some extra ones on board but may not fit)
• Shore shoes (hiking – may get muddy)
• Soft soled deck shoes
• Many pairs of socks
• Wool sweater
• Tee shirts
• Shorts
• Swim suit (possible hot springs – not ocean swimming!)
• Sun hat
• Rain gear (we have some extra ones on board but may not fit)

Fishing:

• If you wish to fish, you will need a saltwater fishing licence for the jurisdiction you are going to be in (BC or Alaska) including a salmon sticker

Personal Items:

• Toothbrush etc.
• Shampoo
• Spare glasses
• Insect repellant
• Sun lotion and lip balm
• Personal medicines
• Motion sickness, discuss best remedy with your pharmacist

Miscellaneous:

• Camera, video & still, plus chargers etc.

ANY QUESTIONS? Please call to straighten out.

We leave for Northern BC and Southeast Alaska on Saturday June 9th returning mid-September. Our itinerary will follow the outside (west) of the Inside Passage to Glacier Bay, AK and back down the westcoast of SE Alaska. From Alaska we will travel directly to the northend of the Queen Charlotte Islands, exploring the National Park. We then head to and down the westcoast of Vancouver Island returning mid-September.
